You start with the Wehrmacht defectors Manfred and Ewald, who have already had the wicked Third Reich and the killing of enemies and innocent people up to their necks. In War Mongrels, on the other hand, all the disgust and frustration will hit you hard. It is a relatively accurate comparison, but the cult classic seems to be a weak and idealized tea of real history when it comes to processing war themes.
